This February, Four Roses bourbon has taken over the prestigious Shaker&Company basement bar to recreate the underground drinking scene of 1920’s America - welcome to ‘Hide&Speak’.
‘Hide&Speak’ is a pop-up Speakeasy inspired by Prohibition-era America – a period regarded as a golden age for cocktails and drinking culture, despite a national ban on alcohol at the time. Taking place away from suspicious eyes in the basement bar at Shaker&Company, Hide&Speak has been created by Four Roses bourbon in true Speakeasy fashion, with wooden crates and sacks for seating, bourbon barrels for tables and moody red lighting.
The cocktail list is inspired by Prohibition classics, and signature serves include the Scofflaw - named after those who broke the restrictions of Prohibition by frequenting speakeasies – featuring Four Roses bourbon, dry vermouth, lemon juice and grenadine shaken with a couple of dashes of orange bitters; and the Prohibition Punch - a sharing drink served in a teapot made with Four Roses Small Batch bourbon shaken with lemon juice, green tea syrup, cardamom and mint. For those who want to learn more about the cocktails and bourbon, a series of masterclasses will also take place. Please contact Shaker&Company for full details.

Four Roses during Prohibition
With its history dating back to 1860 and the honour of being one of only six distilleries granted permission to operate through Prohibition, there are few better experts on Prohibition drinks than Four Roses Bourbon.
Moreover, with its reputation for producing some of the world’s finest bourbon (including a recent American Whisky Distiller of the Year award for the second consecutive year at the Whisky Magazine ‘Icons of Whisky’ Awards for 2012), there are few better bourbons to recreate the past with than Four Roses.
